I have just completed FCCF’s On-Ramp class #5 and I can’t say enough about CrossFit and the wonderful people, who train at this “box.” Being an avid runner and rower, and having trained with a personal trainer on “sports specific” exercises, I think I have finally found something that not only improves everything I do physically, but also tests me mentally each time I come in. I started out a bit leery of doing CrossFit because it was pretty unconventional compared to the gym-type workouts I’ve been accustomed to and because some of the members were about the same age as my two college-age children. (I felt like the “old lady” in the group). Once I decided to do the On-Ramp class, it was all or nothing and I’ve not looked back since.

Upon joining On-Ramp in January, FCCF was in the midst of their Paleo Challenge, I decided to learn about the Paleo Diet concepts and try it myself. The results are amazing! I’m down about 10 pounds and my rowing coach noticed my dwindling “muffin-top” and the increased muscular definition in my quads.

The trainers and members of FCCF are why I will keep this up for years to come. The challenge to do your best at whatever level you are able is the main focus. Technique and body form is a priority to prevent injury and to allow full benefit from every motion. As a rower, I am forced to be conscious of my posture in the boat and CrossFit is a true testament to the improvement of my core strength. I am challenged each time I see the WOD on the board, but the enthusiasm and encouragement of the trainers and the other cross-fitters at FCCF are the perfect combination I need to get through a workout successfully!

I love my Folsom City CrossFit!!

I started with FCCF in late July 2010… there will be no end date. I had always enjoyed working out and classified myself as fit, I had no idea what I was in for. Over the past few months I have pushed myself further then I could ever imagine. There were times I wanted to stop, but I had Stephen or Mike there, in my ear, “keep going, you’re doing great!”

I used to go to the gym and workout for hours, just to be in mediocre shape. I thought I got more accomplished working out alone, I would never consider a group class. With CrossFit I can be in and out in an hour, that hour includes a total workout and room for conversation at the end. There is some friendly and welcomed competition that keeps me focused, if someone can back squat 120lbs, you better believe I will try for 125! I am working out side by side with some of the most amazing people I know, there isn’t one person in FCCF I wouldn’t call “friend”.

There are a few female friends that ask me if I am concerned about getting bigger or too muscular. No, I’m not. I am stronger and I am faster… and very toned; I have never in my life looked or felt better!

Thank you Stephen and Mike for always pushing me further and for being so accommodating to my hectic schedule!

So I had to share this with you guys and girls. I have been training with FCCF for approximately 6 months and have been involved with many different varieties of training over the past 16 years, anywhere from power lifting/speed training/body building to yoga.

About three years ago I was doing Bikram yoga about 3 times a week, I have not been to a Bikram class for about a year and last night I attended a class to work on some flexibility. The teacher warned me to take it easy and rest when needed. I had the best Bikram yoga class of my life! I felt no need to rest and completed the 90 minute class without falling out of a single pose, if any of you have taken a Bikram class you know this is no easy feat. I was amazed of my performance after the class

I attribute this to Folsom City Crossfit and the hard work we have been putting in! I had increased stamina, endurance, strength and flexibility. Thanks Guys!
